Week-by-Week Calendar

*The order of topics may change based on weather (if it's an outdoor activity) or other factors. But, we will do all of these lessons!*

Week 1: September 25
Topic: "Web of Life"
Let's get talking about the environment. Why is it important to take care of our planet? How are all living things connected? Together, we'll create our very own mini ecosystems.

Week 2: October 2
Topic: "Clean is Green"
This week, we'll take an up-close look at water pollution with an interesting science experiment.

Week 3: October 9
Topic: "Animal Rescue"

Environmental accidents, such as oil spills, can hurt an entire ecosystem. What happens to the animals, and how can scientists help? We will conduct our own experiment to answer these questions.

Week 4: October 16
Topic: "Super Sun"
We'll learn about alternative energy sources, and capture the sun's power to make a special snack!


Week 5: October 23
Topic: "Do More with Less"

Do you know how much garbage you make? Do you know where your garbage goes? We'll investigate these questions and make a fun craft to help us reduce waste.

Week 6: October 30Topic: "Eating Close to Home"
How does your dinner get from the farm to your plate? Together we will track the journey of a food, and make a recipe with some locally grown ingredients.


Week 7: November 5
(NOTE: We will meet on Monday of this week because of Election Day on Tuesday)
Topic: "Look Up!"
Why are trees important and how can we help preserve them? We will study the amazing world above us. Plus, we'll make a take-home project so you can start your own treetop habitat!


Week 8: November 13
Topic: "From Old to New"
As we celebrate our last class, we will explore creative recycling and make a new craft from old materials.
